In-house resident expert of DRM on YouTube Android. Launched Widevine DRM on YT-Android to support playing High Value Content sold on YouTube. Responsible for design, implementation, end-to-end user experience, post-launch support and cross-functional collaboration with four other teams. Decreased device failure rate by 10 times using pro-active monitoring and analysis of QoE data. Discovered and reported issues in the Android OS and vendor specific DRM implementations.
Key member of the team which integrated ExoPlayer with YouTube Android. The effort made YouTube Android playbacks quicker, smoother and delivered best possible quality streaming to the user. Used big-data analysis of QoE data along with experimentation to tweak configurations specific to wide variety of Android handsets.

Performed research on smartphone malware with focus on Android to enable real-time malware detection with the goal of making minimal changes in the base operating system and to provide a realistic path for widespread adoption of the proposed system.
Used system call monitoring and Binder IPC activity analysis to monitor system wide activities, performance and behavior of Android applications.

Co-Founded a web2.0 Citizen Journalism startup to let anyone submit news stories, as it happens, right from their cell phones.
Took multiple roles of engineering and management. Lead the company, engineered the products, built the team, bootstrapped the company, raised Series A-funding and successfully made it cash flow positive.
Architectured the application stack around django web framework running on Ubuntu servers with RESTful APIs for mobile apps and integration services.
The product suite is now being used by major Media Houses of Pakistan to source and disseminate news stories from ordinary citizens using technologies including mobile apps, web portals and video streaming services.

Founded a startup focusing on products related to Social Networking and SMS. My Facebook app named SMS went viral with over hundred thousand unique installs.
CabCents: Designed and implemented a C2C web application with django framework
FileSync: Designed and implemented an in-house file synchronization and backup solution. The client was written in Python compiled using Py2EXE amd the server's REST APIs management interface was built on PHP5 FPM running on nginx.
Facebook SMS app: Early adopter of Facebook's Graph API. Launched the first Facebook app out of Pakistan to exchange free SMS message with friends on Facebook. Reached 100,000+ users in four months. Created an SMS based ad-network based on semantic analysis and keyword matching for monetization.
iSMS.pk: SMS portal providing free SMS based communication with personal contacts. Reached 100,000+ users in six months.
